Marina Peña Gallardo is a PhD student under supervision of Sergio Martín Vicente Serrano and Santiago Beguería Portugués at the Pyrenean Institute of Ecology (IPE-CSIC) in Zaragoza (Spain). The aim of her study is focused on the development of sectorial drought indices on the Iberian Peninsula, being the main objective of her work to improve the predictability of the occurrence and impacts of severe drought events over different natural sectors. The awarded poster presents an assessment of the direct relationship between drought episodes and crop yields diminishing in Spain. For this purpose, different well-known drought indices commonly used for monitoring drought have been tested. Also two barley and wheat dataset at different spatial scales have been compared.
